  • Fresh Meat Productions builds community through the arts by creating, presenting and touring original transgender and queer arts programs. We are the first organization of our kind in the nation. Our award-winning, year-round transgender and queer arts programs include:
  • The Fresh Meat Festival: our extremely popular annual festival of transgender and queer performance (June). The Fresh Meat Festival has been celebrated as “outstanding” and credited with “raising the bar for LGBT performance” (Critical Dance, Bay Area Reporter).
  • Sean Dorsey Dance: Artistic Director Sean Dorsey’s award-winning modern dance theater company. Named ‘San Francisco’s Best Dance/Performance Company,’ Sean Dorsey Dance performs original dances exploring transgender/queer themes. The Company has a home season in San Francisco (February) and tours nationally and internationally.
  • Fresh Meat in the Gallery: an annual visual arts exhibition featuring the work of transgender and gender variant artists from across the nation and around the world (June).
  • Tranny Fest: Fresh Meat Productions proudly co-presents Tranny Fest, an annual transgender film festival (November). Fresh Meat Productions also co-presents other Bay Area film and video programs.
  • Commissioning: Fresh Meat Productions commissions the creation of new works by transgender and queer artists, including artists working in traditional arts.
  • Touring: Sean Dorsey Dance, Sean Dorsey and other Fresh Meat artists are available for national and international touring.
  • Community: Fresh Meat Productions works in partnership with other LGBTQ organizations and artists to co-present other community-building and arts events.

We believe the arts are a powerful tool for social and cultural change. Our programs feature leading transgender and queer performance, dance, music, literary, visual and media artists. Fresh Meat’s programs invest in and support transgender/queer artists, foster the evolution of transgender art and culture, expand the repertoire of original work authentically exploring transgender experience, engage and inspire audiences and heighten the visibility of our community's most innovative artists.
